The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, with a strong warning against malpractice.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed that over 1.9 million candidates across the country participated in the examination. However, he noted that 39,834 results have been withheld due to ongoing investigations into suspected exam malpractice.

According to Prof. Oloyede, a total of 80 individuals are under scrutiny for various infractions, with Anambra State recording the highest number of suspects — 14 candidates. He also revealed that 50 candidates have been directly linked to cheating, and 467 underage candidates scored above the minimum cut-off mark.

Statistical data provided by JAMB paints a sobering picture of overall performance:

  • Out of 1,955,069 available results, only 12,414 candidates scored above 300 points — representing just 0.63% of total test takers.
  • 420,415 candidates scored above 200, while the vast majority — 78% — scored below 200 out of the total 400 points.

To check their results, candidates are advised to send “RESULT” followed by their registration number via SMS to 55019 or 66019.

The release of the results underscores JAMB’s continued efforts to uphold the integrity of the examination system, while cracking down on exam fraud and misconduct.
