
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with a string of cult-related killings around the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) and its environs. The arrests were made during an intelligence-led tactical operation carried out on Tuesday.
Those apprehended include: Adeyemo Abdulsamad (24), also known as “Cloud”; Afeez Enitan (28); Ayomide Daniel (30); Olamilekan Adeagbo (26), alias “Skinny”; Mayor Samson (28); Basit Ishola (20); Quadri Sikiru (26); and Mariam Salihu (23). All suspects are believed to be involved in recent violent cult clashes that have rocked the YABATECH area.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that a cache of weapons was recovered from the suspects, including a Beretta pistol, four 9mm rounds of ammunition, one cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh praised the dedication and swift response of the Command’s tactical units and the Eko Strike Force, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding lives, especially around educational institutions.
“Our tactical operatives are working round the clock to dismantle criminal networks and cult groups that threaten public safety,” CP Jimoh stated.
He also urged residents to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to nearby police stations.
According to Hundeyin, further investigations are ongoing to fully determine the scope of the suspects’ involvement in cultism and other criminal acts.
The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its resolve to bring all perpetrators to justice and crack down on cult-related violence across the state.
